Can I get rolling shutter spec sheets, drawings and samples for a project?
Yes. Roll-A-Shield sends architects, contractors and owners a shop drawing for each shutter on an order for sign-off, slat specification data and profile CAD drawings, motor spec sheets for the electrician, and install manuals and videos. Physical slat and color samples are mailed free on request. There is currently no CSI-format specification.
Key facts
- A shop drawing generated for each shutter on an order is available for an architect or contractor to review and sign off. Roll-A-Shield data
- Slat and color samples, and brochures, are mailed free on request. Roll-A-Shield data
- Insulated slats come in 7 colors and single-wall slats in 5. Roll-A-Shield data
- Motors run on 120 V AC and draw 0.7-5.5 A; motor spec sheets cover voltage, wiring and override. Roll-A-Shield data
- Roll-A-Shield does not currently have a CSI (MasterFormat) specification, and it does not publish deflection values. Roll-A-Shield data
Applies to: Roll-A-Shield rolling shutters specified by architects, general contractors, builders, HOAs and owners: 38 mm and 55 mm insulated and 63 mm single-wall slats, manual and motorized.
Architects, contractors, HOA boards and owners planning a project usually need four things: numbers to design around, a drawing to approve, a spec for the electrician, and something to hold. This page lists what Roll-A-Shield can provide, what it does not have, and the key figures most specifiers ask for first.
What documents can I get?
Ask for any of these when you request a quote or call (480) 921-0200.
| Document | What it is | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Shop drawing | Generated for each shutter on an order, from the order's own dimensions and components | Architect or contractor review and sign-off |
| Slat specification data | Profile dimensions, size limits, options and colors for each slat | Designers comparing slats |
| Slat profile CAD drawings | Drawings of the slat profiles | Detailing |
| Motor spec sheets | Voltage, wiring and override details for the motor on the order | Electrician, automation integrator |
| Install manuals and videos | Step-by-step guides for each operator type | Installer |
What don't you provide?
Roll-A-Shield does not currently have a CSI (MasterFormat) specification, and it does not publish deflection values. The shop drawing for each opening is the approval document.
Can I get physical samples?
Yes, free. Roll-A-Shield mails slat samples, color samples and brochures on request; ask by phone, chat or the contact form and give a mailing address. They can go with an HOA application.
What are the key numbers for design?
These are the figures most often asked for at design stage. The full tables are on rolling shutter slat specifications and box sizes.
| Slat | Slat height | Largest size by factory review (width / height / area) | Sizing weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 38 mm insulated | 1.5 in | 159 in / 216 in / 112 sq ft | 0.92 lb per sq ft |
| 55 mm insulated | 2.1875 in | 224 in / 216 in / 156.5 sq ft | 1.11 lb per sq ft |
| 63 mm single-wall | 2.5 in | 222 in / 216 in / 200 sq ft | 1.14 lb per sq ft |
Area usually limits a shutter before width and height do. Other figures specifiers ask for:
- Box sizes: 6.5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 in; the box size depends on the curtain height and slat. See why taller shutters need bigger boxes.
- Colors: 7 for insulated slats and 5 for single-wall. See colors and finish.
- Motors: 120 V AC, drawing 0.7-5.5 A.
- Wind and impact: see how much wind a rolling shutter can take for which slat carries which rating and under what conditions.
What should I tell you at design stage?
The more of the order that is fixed, the more precise the drawing. For each opening, give the clear opening width and height, the mount (inside or outside the opening, or a hidden box), the slat, the operator and where power will be, and the color. On new construction, get in touch before framing so the plans can be reviewed. See planning a hidden shutter box and inside vs outside mount.
The final measure for an installed job happens once framing is complete.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have CAD drawings of the shutter housing?
Roll-A-Shield can send CAD drawings of its slat profiles and an order-specific shop drawing for each shutter. For anything beyond those, ask when you request a quote.
Can you send something for my HOA?
Yes. Slat and color samples and brochures are mailed free, and a shop drawing of the shutter for your opening can go with the application.
Is there a motor spec sheet my electrician can review?
Yes. Motor spec sheets cover the voltage, wiring and override. The motors run on 120 V AC. Follow the motor maker's instructions: terminate in a listed junction box; do not run the motor cable through the wall. Mains wiring by a licensed electrician.
Do you send drawings for approval before you build?
Yes. The shop drawing for each shutter on an order can be sent for an architect or contractor to review and sign off.
