We custom-build each shutter, so their cost depends on the size, materials, motor, and features you choose. A typical bedroom window with a motorized shutter can be about $1,300, while a higher-security commercial storefront motorized shutter can be $5,000+.

We build our shutters from the highest-quality and most durable materials and components. We source all of our materials and components from suppliers in the U.S.A., Germany, Italy, France, and Australia. We then manufacture each shutter in the U.S.A. at our facility in Tempe, AZ.
Our shutters can be customized for light-weight needs like privacy and heat insulation, or for heavy-duty commercial security and hurricane protection, and everything in-between.
Our shutters are also highly durable and last a long time — we still service customers who have 20+ year old Roll-A-Shield shutters!
We build and ship shutters within three weeks. If you have an urgent need, we offer expedited service and can build and ship shutters within five business days.
For local Phoenix-area customers, we will typically install within four weeks of order.
For national customers, dealer install times will vary, but it typically happens within three to six weeks of order.

Yes. We can offer hurricane-rated shutters, but they are a special order. Reach out to learn more.
Our shutters are not designed to be bullet proof. However, our heavy-duty slat likely contributes to reducing the impact or damage of a bullet fired through the shutter.

Our shutters are highly effective at blocking rain and other precipitation, and our clients regularly use them to prevent rain damage. The only reason we don’t label our shutters as “waterproof” is because they technically do not create a perfect seal against precipitation.
We can customize our shutters to sustain hurricane-force winds. Contact us to learn how to improve the performance of rolling shutters against wind through the use of storm bars, end-retention, heavy-duty slats, and other custom features.
We offer 8 colors: Bronze, Sand, Beige, Cream, White, Gray, Metallic, and Brown.
You can operate our shutters in many different ways, ranging from manual operation with a crank or pull strap, to motorized operation via remote, switch, app, keyfob, or keypad.

You should have no problem installing a shutter if you are comfortable with a power drill, have an extra pair of hands to help you, and have some basic skill and experience as a handyman. However, if you are uneasy drilling or dealing with wiring, consider working with a Roll-A-Shield dealer or a contractor you know.
This depends on what operating mechanism you selected for your shutters.
Our shutters are attached to buildings with screws through the guide rails every three feet, and through the back of the slat box. These need to be screwed into a strong base like a stud.
In addition, most of our shutters need access to power that must be connected to the shutter (unless you choose to operate your shutters manually or with a solar-powered motor).
We offer multiple access control options, including numeric keypads, key fobs, key-operated switches, and internet-enabled apps, as well as standard remotes.

Yes. We offer spring-loaded (aka push-pull) shutters to allow you or your employees to access or secure your manually building without relying on a motor or crank handle.
If you aren’t allowed to put shutters on the outside of your business or residence, you can usually still install the shutters inside. This leaves your window and/or glass exposed, but it provides protection for your inventory, store, or home. This is a common solution to restrictions imposed by landlords.
Many of our customers live in communities with an HOA (Home Owner Association), and most have been allowed to install rolling shutters. Most HOAs only set requirements for how rolling shutters are installed and what colors they can be. Our staff is happy to help you customize your shutters to meet your HOA’s requirements.
If your HOA is resistant to shutters, we can give you information to make the case that shutters increase property values, reduce energy bills, and help residents enjoy their community more.
We install our shutters safely, and can ensure the ability to operate them or otherwise leave the room they enclose during an emergency, especially when they enclose bedrooms.
Local regulations can vary, but we offer a variety of methods to ensure egress compliance, including manually operated shutters, solar-powered or battery-powered shutters that operate independently of a home’s power, and manual overrides that allow you to raise the shutter in the event of an emergency.
Note: customers are responsible for ensuring that their custom shutter and installation meet their local building code.
The maximum area of a shutter depends on the materials you select and the method of operation you will be using. The widest we can make a shutter is about 19.5 feet. The tallest we can make a shutter is about 12 feet.
