What are the specs of each rolling shutter motor (torque, speed, current)?
Roll-A-Shield's wired and remote shutter motors are 120 V AC, 60 Hz tubular motors from 10 to 120 Nm. Gaposa's 10-50 Nm motors turn at 12-16 rpm and draw 0.9-1.8 A; its 80-120 Nm motors draw 3.1-5.5 A. Somfy's LT50 motors turn at 14 rpm and draw 0.7-2.1 A. Gaposa solar motors run on 12 V DC.

On Roll-A-Shield shutters the cord is 18 ft as standard, up to 25 ft on some motor types. Roll-A-Shield's 2024 install manuals quote 0.7 to 1.8 A. That range covers Gaposa's 10-50 Nm motors and the Somfy LT50 motors up to 40 Nm; the Somfy 50 Nm and every motor of 60 Nm and up draw more, so use the per-model figures below.

These are the manufacturer codes on Roll-A-Shield's Gaposa motor parts; its parts records add a U to the 120 Nm codes (for example XQ6EZ12012U). Figures are Gaposa's, from its 2024 US catalog.

Gaposa's 80-120 Nm motors need a tube of at least 63 mm. Only the XQ5E and XQ5EZ Sense motors in this table have obstacle detection; see which motors have obstacle detection.
Somfy motors: torque, speed and current
Somfy's LT50 line covers 10 to 50 Nm; the 60 Nm motor is its 600 series. Figures are Somfy's.

None of these Somfy motors has obstacle detection. Somfy rates its LT50 motors for 5 minutes of continuous running before the thermal protection trips.
Solar motors: Gaposa Autonomo
The solar motors run on 12 V DC from the battery in their solar station, not on house power.

How do I pick a motor from these tables?
By curtain weight, not by torque or speed alone. Work out what the curtain weighs and read the lift chart on what size motor a shutter needs; then use these tables for the current draw, cable and speed of the motor it points to. Frequently asked questions
How do I read a Gaposa model code?
XQ5 or XQ6 is the motor series; E means electronic limits, P mechanical limits and M manual override; a Z after that means a built-in radio receiver; the numbers are the torque and the speed. XQ5EZ3016 is a 30 Nm, 16 rpm Sense motor with radio.
What radio frequency do the remote motors use?
Gaposa's US radio and solar motors work in the 434 MHz band (Gaposa lists 434.15 MHz); Somfy RTS motors use 433.42 MHz. The two systems do not work with each other's remotes.
How long can a shutter motor run before it stops?
Each motor has thermal protection. Somfy rates its LT50 motors for about 5 minutes of continuous running and advises at least 15 minutes of cooling after the protection trips; Gaposa motors reset after about 15 minutes.
Where are OZRoll battery motor specs?
